Look into my eyes, look into my eyes!

What a blast from the past! I have just finished listening to, The Chauffeur and Planet Earth by Duran Duran and was momentarily transported back in time when I was young and bouncy. The arty visuals are great to watch but it is the song lyrics that inspire me more than anything and quite often I can find myself coming up with a theme for a story that has evolved from nothing more than a song lyric - could be a paragraph, a sentence or more often than not, a single word. In yesterday's blog entry, I mentioned that I was inspired to start working on a sequel to The Collected Tales of Nathaniel Darcy and I'll let you in on a secret, that all came about from hearing a single word. No, I am not about to give away what the word was but, somebody will describe Mark Hopkins by using that particular word that he will immediately hate and, believe it or not, that very same word has inspired me, mood-wise, on how the story will develop along with how Mark and Minty will also develop, in both, age and maturity as the novel progresses. I aim to take my two protagonists from the age 16 (where I left that in my first book) to age 19 in an arc that will see both of them separated through most of book two before, on holiday with Nathaniel, Clarice and Justavia, in Switzerland, they come together again. Nuff said for now. See you next time :-)
